Leahy is a food distribution and manufacturing company bringing in $200M+ in revenue. They are a family-owned company dedicated to creating nutritious, delicious and responsible food and beverage solutions. For over 65 years, they’ve defined our way of doing business by treating their customers with dignity and respect. They are involved in the movement of wholesale food items and food supplies from large scale manufacturers to consumer-facing businesses. Manufacturers can include factories, farmers, or producers. The process of food distribution involves many different employees who are responsible for monitoring the quality, cost, packaging, branding, and advertising of the food items. Food distributors act as middlemen between manufacturers and consumers, allowing the purchase of such items to be more efficient for the consumer. Although some food manufacturers sell directly to consumers, such as at a farmer's market, most food sales go through food distributors.
Problem
They were generating their financial inventory and sales reporting through a fragmented, highly manual Excel oriented process that was error prone, inefficient, and cumbersome. SEAD was tasked with automating and consolidating all corporate reporting into easy to use dashboards in one corporate portal.
Solution
SEAD began with 3 dashboards and now provides Leahy with 38 dashboards encompassing financial performance, cash forecasting, budgeting, logistics management, and all sales/client reporting. SEAD’s most recent achievement with Leahy is the successful implementation of the Accounting Roll-Up Module. SEAD has been able to utilize this module to produce a 13-week Cash Forecast that is updated daily based on predictive AR, AP, and inventory movements. This dashboard has enabled Leahy to optimize its credit line with its bank and improve its liquidity to satisfy inventory requirements. Furthermore, the Accounting Roll-Up Module has been able to deliver a yearly forecasted budget that directly integrates with Starbucks buy plan dataset. This budget is produced within two minutes and provides overriding capabilities to sales and accounting personnel who have insights beyond its seasonal algorithmic forecasting knowledge. Finally, SEAD has provided Leahy with an Order Pooling algorithm which automatically recommends combining sales order deliveries that are going to warehouses within an acceptable mileage.
Results
In the time that SEAD has worked with Leahy IFP, they have increased their revenue from $50M to over $200M+. The algorithm we provided Leahy created a bottom-line savings of $450,000 in the past twelve months. Using the SEAD SaaS+ offering, Leahy, a 60-year family-owned company, has achieved previously unprecedented growth in both revenue and EBITDA.
